Lower Intake Manifold Gasket Leaks (Crucial for 3.4L): The 3.4L V6 engine is notorious for factory nylon/rubber lower intake manifold gaskets degrading. Versatrak AWD Fluid Neglect: The Versatrak AWD system relies on highly specific, proprietary GM Versatrak fluid in the rear drive module. If standard gear oil is used, or if the fluid is never changed, the rear differential will start groaning loudly during tight parking-lot turns and eventually seize.
Rear Wheel Bearing / Hub Assembly Failure: The rear wheel bearings on the Rendezvous are a common failure point, often wearing out before 100,000 miles. A failing hub will produce a loud, drone-like humming noise that increases in pitch with vehicle speed.
