- More Powerful Engine: Buick replaced the old, underpowered 138-horsepower motor with a direct-injection 1.4-liter Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. It boosts output to 155 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque (a 12% increase in horsepower and a 20% jump in torque).
- Streamlined Lineup: To prepare for the model’s phase-out, Buick discontinued the base model and offered the vehicle in just one well-equipped trim level: the Preferred trim.
- Front-Wheel Drive (FWD): Comes standard and delivers an EPA-estimated 24 city / 32 highway MPG.
- All-Wheel Drive (AWD): Available as an optional upgrade, dropping fuel economy slightly to 23 city / 30 highway MPG.
- QuietTuning™ Technology: Utilizes active noise cancellation, acoustic laminated glass, and extra body baffling to keep the cabin incredibly quiet at highway speeds.
- Infotainment: Features a standard 7-inch touchscreen running the Buick Infotainment System, which includes standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and Siri Eyes Free.
- Cabin Configuration: Offers a flat-folding front passenger seat and 60/40 split-folding rear seats, expanding the maximum cargo capacity from 18.8 cubic feet up to 48.4 cubic feet.
- Safety Package Upgrades: Because there is only one trim, standard driver assists are sparse. You will need to look for models equipped with the optional Safety Package, which adds Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and a 120-volt power outlet.
- Encore vs. Encore GX: Do not confuse this vehicle with the Buick Encore GX. While they share a similar name, the Encore GX is a completely different, slightly larger, and more modern vehicle built on a newer platform
