- Availability: Standard on the LS and LT trims.
- Performance: The base engine produces 275 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. According to Chevrolet, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.4 seconds. It is the most fuel-efficient engine option, with an EPA-estimated 30 MPG highway.
- Review: Car and Driver described the engine as having uneven throttle responses and an “unpleasant, unsporting” sound, but noted it is not slow.
- Availability: Optional on LT trims.
- Performance: The V6 engine produces 335 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque. Chevrolet estimates a 0-60 mph time of 5.2 seconds for coupe models with a manual transmission.
- Review: Car and Driver noted that this engine “completely changes the car’s character” and adds a good amount of power.
- Availability: Standard on the LT1 and SS trims.
- Performance: The iconic small-block V8 produces 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque. It provides tremendous low-end torque and impressive acceleration. Chevrolet estimates a 0-60 mph time of around 4.0 seconds for models equipped with the 10-speed automatic transmission.
- Features: Includes direct injection and variable valve timing for improved efficiency.
- Availability: Exclusively for the high-performance ZL1 trim.
- Performance: The
LT4
is the top-tier engine, producing 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Equipped with a 1.7L Eaton supercharger, it offers blistering acceleration. Chevrolet estimates a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds with the 10-speed automatic transmission.
- Review: Car and Driver called the
LT4
a “well-behaved and tractable beast” that produces power across the rev range.
and
and LT4 V8s share a 6.2L block but have fundamental differences in their internal components and overall design.
- Power delivery: The
LT1
is naturally aspirated, while the
LT4uses a supercharger, which gives it a significant boost in horsepower and torque.
- Internal components: The
LT4
features a more robust design with revised components like a stronger crankshaft, upgraded camshaft, and more durable pistons to handle the increased stress of forced induction.
- Cost and complexity: The
LT4
is more expensive and has higher maintenance costs due to the supercharger system and other specialized parts.
- Reliability ratings: Kelley Blue Book reports that 77% of owners recommend the 2021 Camaro, and RepairPal gave the Camaro a 4 out of 5 reliability rating.
- Recalls: According to the Center for Auto Safety, the 2021 Camaro had multiple recalls. These included issues with the power train (automatic transmission and axle shaft), seat belts, and airbags.
- Other issues: Some common complaints mentioned by owners include poor rear visibility and a tiny back seat, which can affect daily drivability.
