• Engine Type: Inline 4-cylinder.
• Displacement: 3.0L (181 cubic inches).
• Performance: Rated at 135 horsepower at the propshaft with a wide-open throttle (WOT) range of 4,400–4,800 rpm.
• Fuel system variations:
  • Carbureted: The traditional, reliable fuel system found on earlier models.
  • TKS (Turn Key Start): This carbureted system automatically adjusts the air-to-fuel ratio, eliminating the need for a manual choke and simplifying starting.
  • MPI (Multi-Port Injection): Introduced on later models, MPI offers more precise fuel delivery, resulting in better performance and fuel efficiency.
• Engine Guardian: This system monitors critical engine sensors to prevent damage from issues like low oil pressure, overheating, or low drive lubricant.
• Durability: The engine features a robust, cast-iron block for long-term reliability. 

• Alpha One Gen II: All 3.0L engines from 1998 and later were exclusively paired with the Alpha One Gen II sterndrive. This drive is the standard choice for smaller sport boats and runabouts because it’s lightweight, efficient, and cost-effective.
• Not compatible with Bravo: Due to its lower power output, the 3.0L engine is not compatible with the heavier-duty Bravo series sterndrives.
