• Exterior styling: A new front grille, updated hood, and redesigned tailgate and bumper gave the truck a more modern, chiseled look.
• Interior overhaul: The cabin was completely redone with better-quality materials, and the center stack was brought closer to the driver for easier access. The larger knobs were retained for easier use with gloves.
• New trim levels: The luxury-focused 1794 Edition was introduced, featuring Western-themed styling and premium brown leather with suede accents.
• Enhanced safety and technology: All trims received a standard backup camera and Bluetooth connectivity. Higher trims included a Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. 

• 4.0L V6

  : The base engine produced 270 horsepower and was discontinued after the 2014 model year. It came with a five-speed automatic transmission.

• 4.6L V8

  : An upgraded engine with 310 horsepower.

• 5.7L V8

  : The top-tier engine, which generated 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque. It is capable of towing over 10,000 lbs when properly equipped. Both V8 engines were paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. 

• TRD Pro trim: This new off-road model featured Bilstein high-performance shocks, a front skid plate, a TRD dual exhaust system, and unique styling elements, including an aggressive “TOYOTA” grille.
• Engine simplification: The base 4.0L V6 engine was discontinued, making the 4.6L and 5.7L V8s the only available engines.
• Flexible fuel compatibility: Select trims equipped with the 5.7L V8 engine received Flexible Fuel Vehicle capability.
• Available features: Options like a spray-in bedliner and an integrated trailer brake controller (for 5.7L models) were introduced. 

• Poor fuel economy: The V8 engines are known for being thirsty, with gas mileage lagging behind competitors in the full-size truck market.
• Air injection pump failure: This is a known issue across second-generation Tundras and can lead to a check engine light.
• Frame rust: Like earlier second-generation models, frame rust can be a significant issue, particularly in cold climates where road salt is used. Buyers should have the frame thoroughly inspected before purchasing.
• Exhaust manifold leaks: Some owners have reported exhaust manifold problems, which can cause a ticking noise.
• Bulkier handling: While the 2014 model improved steering feel, the Tundra is still noted for its heavy and less nimble handling compared to some rivals.
