- Powertrain: The Edition 1 used a three-motor setup—one in the front and two in the rear—to provide all-wheel drive and produce an impressive 1,000 horsepower and an estimated 1,200 lb-ft of torque.
- Acceleration: Despite weighing over 9,000 pounds, its “Watts to Freedom” launch control mode enabled a 0 to 60 mph time of just 3.3 seconds.
- Range and charging: It featured a large 205.0 kWh Ultium battery pack with an EPA-estimated range of 329 miles. It also had an 800-volt electrical architecture that allowed for fast DC charging at up to 350 kW, capable of adding 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes.
- Towing: Towing capacity was a respectable 7,500 pounds, but some competitors offered more.
- CrabWalk: A standout feature, CrabWalk used the four-wheel steering to allow the truck to move diagonally at low speeds, helping it navigate tight trails.
- Extract Mode: The adaptive air suspension could lift the truck by up to 5.8 inches for greater ground clearance, useful for overcoming extreme obstacles.
- Underbody armor: It came standard with extensive underbody armor, including rock sliders and five skid plates to protect the battery and other vital components.
- UltraVision: A system of 18 exterior cameras, including waterproof underbody cameras, provided a “virtual spotter” to help drivers see obstacles.
- Infinity Roof: The four roof panels were removable for an open-air driving experience, with dedicated storage space for them in the power-operated front trunk.
- Infotainment: A 13.4-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster featured graphics designed by Epic Games, the makers of Fortnite.
- Super Cruise: The Edition 1 came with GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving assistance system.
- Interior materials: The interior featured a “Lunar Horizon” theme with tech bronze accents, though some critics felt the plastic materials were not up to par for the high price tag.
- Weight: Its immense 9,000+ lb curb weight made it difficult to stop, with some reviewers noting significant brake fade during repeated hard stops.
- Recalls: Several recalls were issued for the 2022 model, including issues with the taillight software and improperly sealed high-voltage battery packs that could cause a loss of drive power.
- Infotainment lag: The advanced infotainment system suffered from noticeable lag, suggesting the processor couldn’t keep up with the software.
