- Engine: The 2013 Transit Connect is equipped with a 2.0L inline 4-cylinder engine that produces 136 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque.
- Transmission: A 4-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels.
- Fuel economy: EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings were 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway for cargo models, and 22/27 mpg for wagon models.
- Performance: Acceleration is considered very sluggish, especially with a payload.
- Payload: The Transit Connect has a maximum payload capacity of around 1,600 pounds.
- XL: The base trim came with basic features, including air conditioning and an AM/FM radio. It could be optioned with or without rear and side glass.
- XLT: This mid-tier trim added features like power windows, power locks, and cruise control.
- XLT Premium (wagon only): This top-level trim for the passenger model included a four-speaker audio system, rear carpeting, and standard side/rear privacy glass.
- Ford Work Solutions: This optional system included features like an in-dash computer with Internet access, a vehicle tracking system, and a tool inventory system.
- Transmission shift cable bushing recall: A recall was issued in 2021 and 2022 for a bushing that could degrade or detach from the transmission shift cable, preventing the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear and potentially rolling away when in “Park”.
- Engine overheating and fire risk recall: Some models equipped with the 1.6L GTDI engine (not the standard 2.0L) were recalled for a coolant issue that could lead to overheating, causing the cylinder head to crack and potentially creating an under-hood fire.
- Rust and subframe issues: Some owners reported problems with severe rust on the front suspension subframe crossmember, which could lead to alignment problems or a complete vehicle breakdown.
- Cooling system leaks: The cooling system has been known to experience leaks, which can lead to overheating.
- Electrical system glitches: Some owners have reported various electrical issues, including problems with the dashboard display and other components.
