- 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel: This engine was available with three different power ratings:
- 270 horsepower and 675 lb-ft of torque (standard).
- 300 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque (mid-range).
- 330 horsepower and 725 lb-ft of torque (high-output).
- Engine brake: A driver-activated exhaust brake system was standard on diesel models.
- 6.8L Triton V10 3-valve gasoline engine: This engine was also available, offering:
- 320 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.
- CNG/Propane Autogas Conversion: It could be prepped for conversion to run on compressed natural gas or propane autogas.
- TorqShift HD 6-speed automatic transmission: This transmission was designed and built by Ford to work seamlessly with both engine options.
- Drivetrain: The 2018 F-650/F-750 was available in both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations.
- Chassis configurations: The 2018 models were highly customizable and available in several frame configurations for different vocations:
- Pro Loader: Features a “kick-up” frame for a lower ride height, ideal for delivery vehicles.
- Straight Frame: Provides a high, flat frame for maximum upfit flexibility.
- Tractor: Features a reinforced frame and air brakes for heavy-duty towing applications.
- Cab options: Three cab configurations were offered:
- Regular Cab: Two-door.
- SuperCab: Four-door with rear-hinged doors.
- Crew Cab: Four-door with standard-style, front-hinged doors.
- Interior: Standard interior features included air conditioning, cruise control, tilt steering, and a message center in the gauge cluster. Higher trims offered SYNC infotainment and air-ride seats.
- Safety and technology: Standard features included an anti-lock brake system (ABS), and diesel models with air brakes could be equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Warning.
- Brake recalls: Several recalls affected 2018 F-650/F-750 models equipped with hydraulic brakes:
- Parking brake cable: A recall for an inadequate parking brake cable that could cause unintended vehicle movement.
- Corroding brake hoses: Another recall was issued for hydraulic brake hoses that may not have had the proper anti-corrosion plating, potentially leading to brake fluid leakage.
- Transmission shifter recall: Some 2018 models with six-speed transmissions were recalled for a clip that could come loose, potentially allowing unintended vehicle movement even when the shifter indicated “Park”.
- CP4 High-Pressure Fuel Pump (Diesel): The 6.7L Power Stroke diesel engine is known for the potential failure of the CP4 fuel pump. This can cause metal shavings to contaminate the fuel system, resulting in a very expensive repair.
- 6.8L V10 Spark Plugs (Gasoline): The 6.8L V10 gasoline engine is known for issues with spark plug ejection or stripped threads.
