- Engine: 7.3L Premium Devct NA PFI V8 (“Godzilla”)
- Performance: 350 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque
- Transmission: TorqShift 6-speed automatic with SelectShift capability
- Electrical: Heavy-duty 210-amp alternator to quickly charge coach house batteries
- GVWR Range: Scaled from 16,000 lbs to 26,000 lbs across 6 distinct wheelbase configurations
- Rear Axle Hub Lubrication (Recall 21S17 / NHTSA 21V202000): This is the most infamous 2021 recall. A massive batch of chassis left the factory with insufficient oil in the rear axle housing. Running these dry causes the wheel bearings to overheat and fail, which can cause the entire rear wheel spindle to break off while driving. Ford’s fix involves inspecting the bearings and replacing the entire rear axle assembly if damage is found.
- Brake Caliper Bolt Torque (Recall 22S76 / NHTSA 22V954000): Similar to the 2022 models, select 2021 chassis were shipped with improperly torqued rear brake caliper attachment bolts. These bolts can back out completely, leading to a sudden loss of braking performance or mechanical interference with the wheel assembly.
- Steering Wheel Attachment (Recall 22S50 / NHTSA 22V601000): The steering wheel armature bolt can back out due to missing thread locker from the factory. This can cause the steering wheel to feel loosely attached or detach from the column.
- The Cheap Handling Fix (CHF): On older chassis, owners routinely moved the sway bar links to the secondary factory holes to stiffen the suspension for free. On the 2021+ chassis, Ford redesigned the sway bars; while some owners still attempt a modified CHF, it is widely recommended to purchase adjustable aftermarket links to prevent binding the suspension geometry.
- Adding a Front Steering Stabilizer: Installing a specialized hydraulic damper stabilizes the front solid axle. This prevents the steering wheel from ripping out of your hands if a front tire blows out or if you drop a tire off the edge of the pavement.
- Rear Track Bar: Essential for any coach with a long rear overhang. It physically stops the wind from pushing the square rear box of the RV side-to-side over the axle.
