- Engine: All 2021 models come with a 1.4L turbocharged ECOTEC 4-cylinder engine.
- For most of the year, it produced 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque.
- Models produced later in 2021 received an output bump to 155 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque.
- Transmission: A 6-speed automatic is standard on all trims.
- Drivetrain: Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, with an optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) system available.
- Fuel economy: EPA estimates for FWD models are 26 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. AWD models are rated at 24 mpg city and 29 mpg highway.

: The base model includes a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, a rearview camera, and 16-inch alloy wheels.

: This mid-tier trim adds features like cruise control, remote start, LED daytime running lights, roof rails, and upgraded cloth/leatherette seating. It also offers the most available packages, such as the Midnight or Sport Editions.
- Interior and cargo: The interior is functional but uses hard plastics that reflect its budget-friendly price.
- Cargo capacity: Offers 18.7 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and a maximum of 48.4 cubic feet with the seats folded.
- Versatile seating: The front passenger seat can fold flat, allowing for longer items up to 8 feet long to be carried inside.
- Technology: The 7-inch touchscreen with Chevrolet’s infotainment system is standard, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
- Connectivity: A 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot is standard, with a subscription required for service.
- NHTSA rating: The 2021 Trax earned a 5-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
- IIHS rating: It received top “Good” ratings in most crashworthiness tests from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), though the passenger-side small front overlap test received an “Acceptable” rating.
- Driver-assist features: Availability was significantly reduced in 2021 with the removal of the Premier trim. Advanced safety features like Side Blind-Zone Alert and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert were only available as optional packages on the LT trim.
