• Balance Shaft: A balance shaft was added to the standard GM 4.3L block to reduce vibration and enhance passenger comfort. These engines are sometimes identified as “Balance Shaft” or “Gen+” engines in service manuals.
• Fuel System Variations:
  • Carbureted: Standard models often featured a 2-barrel carburetor, offering reliable, traditional performance.
  • EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection): Later models and some higher-end packages offered EFI for improved starting, throttle response, and fuel efficiency.
• Horsepower: Depending on the specific fuel system and configuration, engines from this period could produce between 175 and 205 horsepower. 

• Alpha One Gen II: This was the primary sterndrive paired with the 4.3L V6 engine for most runabouts and sport boats during this time. The Gen II drive features several improvements over its predecessor, including better corrosion resistance and easier maintenance.
• Bravo: For heavier boats like larger cruisers or pontoons, the engine was sometimes paired with a heavier-duty Bravo drive, such as the Bravo Two or Bravo Three. These drives offer more robust construction and stronger performance for heavier loads.
