- Performance: The gas V8 delivers 350 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque. It is the only gasoline engine in the medium-duty truck class.
- Fuel prep package: A new-for-2022 gaseous fuel prep package is available for upfitters to convert the engine to run on compressed natural gas (CNG) or propane.
- Performance: This engine is offered with three different power ratings, allowing for a mix of fuel efficiency and output based on the application:
- Standard: 270 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque.
- Mid-range: 300 horsepower and 725 lb-ft of torque.
- High-output: 330 horsepower and 750 lb-ft of torque.
- Fuel injection: The Power Stroke engine features a high-pressure, 36,000-psi fuel injection system for optimal combustion and throttle response.
- Transmission: Both engines are mated to Ford’s TorqShift HD 6-speed automatic transmission.
- Drivetrain: Available in both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations.
- Brakes: New for 2022, air brakes were made available on gas-powered models in addition to the standard hydraulic system.
- Frame options: To facilitate upfitting, three primary frame styles are available:
- Pro Loader: Features a “kick-up” frame for a lower ride height, ideal for delivery.
- Straight Frame: Provides a higher, flat frame for maximum upfit flexibility.
- Tractor: Features a reinforced frame and air brakes for heavy-duty towing.
- Cab options: Customers can choose from a two-door Regular Cab, a four-door SuperCab with rear-hinged doors, or a four-door Crew Cab.
- SYNC 4: For higher trims like the Lariat, the 2022 Super Duty lineup introduced a 12-inch touchscreen with the cloud-connected SYNC 4 infotainment system, offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Fleet management: Standard and available technology features help commercial customers operate more efficiently:
- Ford Telematics: Tracks fuel consumption and vehicle location.
- Driver-Assist Packages: Includes Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, and Hill Start Assist.
- Connectivity: A standard modem with 4G LTE Wi-Fi is included.
- High-pressure fuel pump (Diesel): A recall (NHTSA Campaign ID Number: 24V957000) was issued in January 2025 for 2021–2022 F-650 and F-750 diesel models. Biodiesel deposits can form on the pump drivetrain, causing pump failure and a loss of drive power.
- Fuel prep package (Gasoline): A gaseous fuel prep package that was announced for the 7.3L V8 was listed as “late availability” for the 2022 model year.
- 7.3L Engine issues (Gasoline): Some users on forums for the consumer-grade Super Duty trucks have reported random misfires, main seal leaks, and camshaft/lifter delamination issues on the 7.3L V8.
