Notable recalls

Because of several safety issues, Polaris and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued numerous recalls affecting Slingshots from 2015–2017:

Electrical system (2015–2019 models): The vehicle’s electrical current needs sometimes exceeded the capacity of the Battery Fuse Block terminals. Excess current could cause terminal damage, leading to a loss of lighting, instrument cluster, or power steering assist.
Fuel line (2015–2017 models): Insufficient clearance between the fuel line and the hood structure could cause the line to rub, leading to a fuel leak and increasing the risk of fire.
Swingarm (2015–2017 models): Some swingarms had insufficient strength and could fracture, causing a loss of control. A separate recall also addressed issues with missing grommets on replacement swingarms that could lead to ABS and traction control failure.
Headlight failure (2015–2016 models): A wiring issue could cause the headlights to fail while in operation. The fix involved installing a new dual-relay circuit.
Brake fluid leak (2016–2017 models): An overtightened brake pressure switch could damage its seal, causing brake fluid to leak and reducing braking performance.
Back-up camera failure (2015–2016 models): The back-up camera could fail, melting the voltage regulator and blowing a fuse, which would also cause the taillight to fail.
Brake pedal separation (2017–2018 models): The brake pedal could separate from the master cylinder due to incorrect installation.
Loose steering/suspension connections (2017 models): Bolted connections for the steering and suspension may not have been tightened enough.
Seat welds (2015–2018 models): Improper seat base frame welds could cause the seat back or seatbelt buckle to separate.
