- Generation V (1993–1995):
- Features: These engines used a Gen V block design, which featured a one-piece rear main seal. Some high-performance versions included EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection).
- Horsepower: Horsepower varied by year and fuel system, with a 1995 7.4L EFI model, for example, producing around 330 hp.
- Generation VI (1996–1997):
- Features: Introduced roller camshafts for improved performance and efficiency. The fuel system was upgraded to Multi-Port Injection (MPI) on many models for more precise fuel delivery.
- Horsepower: The 7.4L MPI Gen VI engines produced around 330 hp, while the “Blue Water” models could reach 380 hp.
- Generation V (1993–1995):
- Features: Standard on the 8.2L was EFI, which offered better throttle response than earlier carbureted models.
- Horsepower: A 502 EFI (Gen V) engine from 1993–1995 was rated at 415 propshaft horsepower.
- Generation VI (1996–1997):
- Features: As with the 7.4L, the 8.2L Gen VI received a hydraulic roller camshaft and MPI on most models.
- Horsepower: The 8.2L MPI (Gen VI) engines typically produced 415 hp.
