- Gas Engine: 2.4-liter 4-cylinder (Atkinson cycle)
- Electric Motor: 30 kW interior-permanent magnet motor
- Battery Pack: 270-volt lithium-polymer battery
- Combined Output: 206 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque
- Electric-Only Speed: Capable of pure electric driving up to 62 mph under light throttle.
- EPA Estimates: 35 mpg City / 40 mpg Hwy (36 mpg combined).
- 2011 Model: Came standard with more features built into the base price, including an 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat and the Microsoft-developed UVO infotainment system.
- 2012 Model: To lower the base entry price, Kia stripped the power driver’s seat and UVO system from the base trim, moving them into an optional, standalone Hybrid Convenience Package.
- 👍 Pros: Drop-dead gorgeous exterior styling, conventional 6-speed automatic feels like a regular car, luxury-level features available in tech packages, and an excellent ride balance on the highway.
- 👎 Cons: Rough, jerky transitions when switching between electric and gas power, a delayed throttle response off the line, grabby/numb regenerative brakes, and reduced trunk space (dropped from 15.4 to 9.9 cubic feet to clear room for the battery pack).
