The 2023 GMC Sierra HD series, which includes the 2500 and 3500 models, was a carryover year before a major refresh in 2024. It was available in five trim levels and offered a choice between a 6.6L gas V8 or a 6.6L Duramax turbo-diesel V8. The primary difference between the 2500 HD and 3500 HD models is their towing and payload capabilities, with the 3500 HD having a more robust chassis and the option for dual rear wheels for heavier loads.

Trim levels

Both the 2500 HD and 3500 HD were available in the same five trim levels.

Pro

: The entry-level, work-oriented trim came standard with a 6.6L gas V8, 17-inch steel wheels, and a basic infotainment system.
SLE

: Adds more comfort and convenience features, including 17-inch aluminum wheels, power windows and locks, and the MultiPro configurable tailgate.
SLT

: Upgrades include 18-inch wheels, leather upholstery, heated front seats and steering wheel, and keyless open and start.
AT4

: This off-road-focused trim featured standard four-wheel drive, off-road suspension with Rancho shocks, and skid plates.
Denali

: The top-tier luxury trim offers premium leather seating, 20-inch wheels, unique wood and aluminum interior trim, and a Bose premium audio system.

Features and technology

The 2023 Sierra HD featured several tech-forward tools to assist with trailering.

ProGrade Trailering System: This integrated system provides features to assist with hitching and monitoring a trailer, including an in-vehicle app.
15 Camera Views: Up to 15 different camera views were available, including the Transparent Trailer View, which helps the driver see through a compatible trailer.
MultiPro Tailgate: This configurable six-function tailgate was standard on SLE and higher trims.
Infotainment: Standard features included wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims received an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation.
