- 1.5-liter EcoBoost Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV): The flagship engine pairs a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine with a high-voltage 19.7 kWh battery pack. It generates a combined 150 PS (148 hp) and 350 Nm of torque through a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It delivers up to 119 km (approx. 74 miles) of pure electric range and supports 40 kW-50 kW DC fast charging (10% to 80% in under 30 minutes).
- 2.0-liter EcoBlue Turbodiesel: Available in a 102 PS (100 hp) version with a 6-speed manual, or a stronger 122 PS (120 hp) variant available with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
- Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD): The 122 PS diesel model can be configured with an optional AWD system for enhanced grip in cold-weather regions.
- The Flex Cab Design: Alongside the standard 2-seat panel van, Ford offers a 5-seat Flex Cab variant. It features a movable rear seat partition. When the seats are folded away, they flip forward to form a protective, full-height solid bulkhead, instantly converting the passenger space back into raw cargo room.
- Load Formats: Available in short wheelbase (L1 – 3.1 cubic meters) and long wheelbase (L2 – 3.7 cubic meters) layouts. The L2 can easily accommodate two Euro pallets. It has a maximum payload capacity of up to 770 kg and a towing capacity of 1,400 kg to 1,500 kg.
- Tech Overhaul: The cockpit features a standard 10-inch central touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital driver instrument cluster. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but relies on touch-sensitive climate sliders that can be tricky to operate with work gloves.
- Late-Model Used Market: If you are shopping for a small delivery van, look for 2021–2023 pre-owned models. Keep in mind that late-model North American Transit Connects use a 2.0L GDI engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission that is historically prone to transmission shuttering and torque converter slippage under heavy loads.
- Size Alternatives: Fleet buyers shifting away from the small compact van market are moving into the larger Ford Transit Custom (where available), the full-sized Ford Transit, or alternative commercial chassis.
