- Engine: The 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 engine produces 288 horsepower and 254 lb-ft of torque.
- Transmission: A 6-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode via paddle shifters is standard on all trims except for the base SE.
- Drivetrain: Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, with all-wheel drive (AWD) available as an option on the SEL and Limited trims.
- Fuel Economy (FWD): EPA-estimated 18 mpg city, 26 mpg highway.
- Fuel Economy (AWD): EPA-estimated 17 mpg city, 24 mpg highway.
- Engine: The 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V6 engine, standard on the SHO, generates 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.
- Drivetrain: AWD is standard on the SHO model.
- Suspension: The SHO also includes a sport-tuned suspension with unique shocks and springs for enhanced handling.
- Performance Package: An available Performance Package adds a performance-calibrated steering system, high-performance brake pads, and summer tires.
- Fuel Economy: EPA-estimated 16 mpg city, 24 mpg highway.
- SE: The base model features a rearview camera, Ford’s SYNC voice-activated system, a 4.2-inch central display, and 18-inch wheels.
- SEL: This trim adds features like LED daytime running lights, heated mirrors, rear parking sensors, and remote start. An optional equipment group adds keyless entry/ignition and the SYNC 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
- Limited: This luxurious trim includes all the SEL’s standard features, plus the SYNC 3 system, premium Sony audio, blind-spot monitoring, heated and ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
- SHO: In addition to its performance upgrades, the SHO includes most of the Limited’s standard features, along with unique leather upholstery, black exterior trim, and a rear spoiler.
- Fuel System: Some owners have reported issues with the vehicle shutting off, even after replacing fuel components.
- Cooling System: Water pump failures, typically around 100,000 miles, can cause coolant contamination and engine damage, resulting in an expensive repair.
- Exterior Trim: In September 2025, Ford recalled over 100,000 Taurus sedans from 2016 to 2019 due to front door trim pieces that could detach while driving. The issue was due to a manufacturing process change where a hand roller was no longer used to ensure proper adhesion.
- Visibility: Due to its large size and thick roof pillars, visibility from the interior is limited, particularly when reversing.
