- Water pump failure: The internal water pump on the 3.5L V6 engines can fail, which can contaminate the engine oil and lead to extensive and costly engine damage.
- Recalled exterior trim: In late 2025, a recall was issued for 2016–2019 Taurus sedans because the B-pillar exterior trim could detach while driving.
- Poor outward visibility: The Taurus’s thick roof pillars and high beltline can reduce visibility, making the cabin feel more enclosed than its large exterior would suggest.
- SYNC system issues: While Sync 3 was a big improvement, older versions of the infotainment system were known to be problematic. Additionally, a future recall may address rearview camera display problems that affect some 2016 models.
- Cooling system leaks: Some owners have reported issues with cracked coolant tanks and leaking heater hose assemblies.
