-
Base
: A front-wheel-drive (FWD) model with a 3.0L SOHC 12-valve V6 engine, which initially made 164 horsepower.
 -
ES
: A mid-level, FWD model with a 3.0L DOHC 24-valve V6, delivering 222 horsepower. This trim was dropped after the 1993 model year.
 -
R/T
: A sportier, FWD model that shared the 222 horsepower engine of the ES trim.
 -
R/T Turbo
: The top-tier model that featured a powerful twin-turbocharged V6, all-wheel drive, and, for early models, four-wheel steering.

- 1991: First model year. The R/T Turbo debuted with a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 producing 300 horsepower, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. This model also included electronically controlled suspension (ECS) and active exhaust.
 - 1992: A glass sunroof was introduced as an option.
 - 1994 (Facelift): A major refresh introduced the second generation of the Stealth.
- Engine upgrade: The R/T Turbo’s engine was boosted to 320 horsepower and paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
 - Exterior styling: Retractable pop-up headlights were replaced with fixed projector-beam headlights.
 - Feature changes: The advanced tech features like four-wheel steering, ECS, and active exhaust were phased out during this period.

 - 1995: Dual airbags were made standard on all trims.
 - 1996: The final year for the Dodge Stealth saw the R/T Turbo become exceptionally rare, with only 57 units produced. A new body-colored spoiler was added.

- Expensive repairs: According to MotorBiscuit, a major flaw was the finicky and expensive-to-fix high-tech equipment, especially on the R/T Turbo model.
 - Heavy weight: The Stealth was a heavy car for its time, weighing over 3,800 pounds for the R/T Turbo. The weight contributed to a heavier feel than some competitors.
 - Transfer case oil leak: This is a commonly reported issue, particularly on all-wheel-drive models.
 - Transmission issues: Some owners have reported a delayed shift in automatic transmissions, while manual transmission users have noted shifting difficulties.
 - Drivetrain failure from tire mismatch: Some instances of drivetrain failure were caused by using different-sized tires on the front and rear axles of all-wheel-drive models.
 - Poor visibility: The interior of the Stealth was criticized for being cramped with limited outward visibility.

- Used parts: Due to the Stealth sharing most of its mechanical parts with the Mitsubishi 3000GT, parts can still be sourced, though some components for the R/T Turbo’s unique features may be harder to find. Online marketplaces like eBay carry used and some new-old-stock (NOS) components.
