- The base 4.8L and 6.2L V8 engine options were discontinued, leaving the 5.3L V8 as the standard offering.
- The 5.3L V8 gained E85 ethanol capability and the six-speed automatic transmission became standard.
- Standard front seat-mounted side airbags and a USB audio port were added.
- Some packages, including the LT trim, received enhanced equipment.
- Several new exterior paint colors were introduced.
- The standard engine remained the 5.3L V8. The Hybrid model continued to be available, offering better fuel efficiency.
- The feature set was largely carried over from 2010, with various optional packages remaining available.
- The infotainment system was upgraded on some trims, with some packages receiving new or revised options.
- The LTZ trim received a standard heated steering wheel.
- New exterior paint colors were offered.
- The biggest change for the 2013 model was the addition of Powertrain Grade Braking for improved braking performance on inclines.

- Engine and performance: The standard engine was a 5.3L V8 with Active Fuel Management, which could deactivate cylinders to save fuel under light loads.
- Horsepower: 320 hp.
- Torque: 335 lb-ft.
- Towing: An impressive towing capacity of up to 8,500 pounds was available, depending on the configuration.
- Interior: The cabin offered seating for up to nine passengers (with the front bench seat option) and featured a handsome design for the time. Common interior features included:
- Tri-zone climate control
- Power-adjustable pedals
- Bose premium sound system (standard or optional depending on trim)
- Safety: Standard safety features included antilock disc brakes, stability control, traction control, and a full complement of airbags. An optional Side Blind Zone Alert system was also available.
- Active Fuel Management (AFM) problems: The cylinder deactivation system can experience issues, leading to excessive oil consumption or engine damage.
- Cracked dashboards: On vehicles frequently exposed to direct sunlight, the plastic dashboard is prone to cracking.
- HVAC problems: Failure of the heating and air conditioning temperature and air delivery mode door actuators was a relatively common problem.
- Stabilitrak system errors: The “Service Stabilitrak” warning message can appear due to various issues, including faulty sensor connections.
