The 2010–2013 Chevrolet Tahoe was part of the third generation (2007–2014) of the full-size SUV. These years primarily saw minor annual updates to features and packages, with the key offerings remaining a powerful 5.3L V8 gasoline engine, an available Hybrid model, and seating for up to nine passengers.

Annual changes by model year

2010

The base 4.8L and 6.2L V8 engine options were discontinued, leaving the 5.3L V8 as the standard offering.
The 5.3L V8 gained E85 ethanol capability and the six-speed automatic transmission became standard.
Standard front seat-mounted side airbags and a USB audio port were added.
Some packages, including the LT trim, received enhanced equipment.

2011

Several new exterior paint colors were introduced.
The standard engine remained the 5.3L V8. The Hybrid model continued to be available, offering better fuel efficiency.
The feature set was largely carried over from 2010, with various optional packages remaining available.

2012

The infotainment system was upgraded on some trims, with some packages receiving new or revised options.
The LTZ trim received a standard heated steering wheel.
New exterior paint colors were offered.

2013

The biggest change for the 2013 model was the addition of Powertrain Grade Braking for improved braking performance on inclines.
The lineup also saw some new exterior color options.
The available Hybrid model was discontinued after the 2013 model year.

Shared features (2010–2013)

Across all four model years, the Tahoe offered a consistent, truck-based foundation with strong performance and capability.

Engine and performance: The standard engine was a 5.3L V8 with Active Fuel Management, which could deactivate cylinders to save fuel under light loads.
- Horsepower: 320 hp.
- Torque: 335 lb-ft.
Towing: An impressive towing capacity of up to 8,500 pounds was available, depending on the configuration.
Interior: The cabin offered seating for up to nine passengers (with the front bench seat option) and featured a handsome design for the time. Common interior features included:

- Bose premium sound system (standard or optional depending on trim)

Active Fuel Management (AFM) problems: The cylinder deactivation system can experience issues, leading to excessive oil consumption or engine damage.
Cracked dashboards: On vehicles frequently exposed to direct sunlight, the plastic dashboard is prone to cracking.
HVAC problems: Failure of the heating and air conditioning temperature and air delivery mode door actuators was a relatively common problem.
