- Standard Engine (LS and LT trims): A 2.5-liter four-cylinder Ecotec engine with 197 horsepower and 191 lb-ft of torque. It includes a start/stop feature for improved fuel efficiency.
- Available Engine (Optional on LT, Standard on Premier): A more powerful 3.6-liter V6 producing 305 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque.
- LS: The base model came standard with features such as an 8-inch MyLink touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, a rearview camera, and keyless entry and start.
- LT: Added more features, including dual-zone automatic climate control, adjustable lumbar support for the front passenger, and the option for the more powerful V6 engine.
- Premier: The top-tier trim came standard with the 3.6-liter V6 engine, leather upholstery, heated front seats, navigation, a Bose premium sound system, and a wireless charging pad.
- Spacious cabin: The Impala’s interior is roomy, especially the rear seats, which offer ample legroom for passengers.
- Large trunk: With 18.8 cubic feet of space, the trunk is one of the largest in its class. The rear seats can also be folded down to accommodate longer items.
- Infotainment: The standard 8-inch MyLink touchscreen is intuitive and features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
- Ride quality: The suspension is tuned for comfort, providing a smooth and quiet ride.
- Visibility: Thick roof pillars can create blind spots and hamper driver visibility.
- Material quality: While many surfaces have soft-touch materials, some critics noted that certain interior pieces felt less premium than those found in competitors.
- Rear brake performance recall: The most significant recall for the 2018 Impala involved the rear brake caliper pistons, which had an insufficient coating. This could cause gas pockets to form and reduce rear brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Common problems: According to RepairPal, common issues for this generation of Impala can include transmission shifting issues related to the pressure control solenoid, a faulty shifter causing the ignition key to get stuck, and excessive oil consumption.
