- Ford Sync: The voice-activated communication and entertainment system was made available on higher trims, allowing hands-free control of mobile phones, audio, and navigation.
- Ford Work Solutions: This suite of features was designed for contractors and included an in-dash computer with Internet access, a lockable storage “midbox,” and the Tool Link system to track tools via radio frequency identification.

: The standard engine provides 300 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque.
- Transmissions: All engines were paired with either a six-speed manual or a five-speed TorqShift automatic transmission.
- Towing: When properly equipped, an F-450 could pull up to 24,600 pounds with a fifth-wheel trailer. An F-250 had a maximum towing capacity of 12,500 pounds
- Cab Styles: Available cab configurations included Regular Cab, SuperCab (extended), and Crew Cab.
- Trims: The lineup offered XL, XLT, off-road-oriented FX4, and luxurious Lariat trim levels.
- Luxury Features: The high-end trims offered premium audio, Sync multimedia, and leather upholstery.
- Functionality: A massive center console could store a laptop, and the tailgate featured an optional built-in step and grab handle for easy access.
- 6.4L Power Stroke Engine Issues: The 6.4L Power Stroke is known for fuel diluting the engine oil during the regeneration process, radiator leaks, clogged diesel particulate filters (DPF), and potential engine component failures.
- Emissions System Failures: The emissions equipment on the 6.4L diesel engine, including the DPF and twin EGR coolers, is prone to clogging and failure, leading to expensive repairs.
- Fuel System: The high-pressure fuel pump is particularly sensitive to poor fuel quality, which can cause catastrophic and costly fuel system damage.
- Maintenance Costs: Because of these common engine failures, diesel models from this generation are known for very high maintenance and repair costs.
