- Electric Motor: A 105 kW (140 horsepower) electric motor produced an impressive 400 lb-ft of torque.
- Acceleration: The abundant low-end torque enabled a brisk 0–60 mph time of around 7.6 seconds.
- Range: The EPA-estimated range was 82 miles on a full charge, powered by a 21 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
- Level 2 (240V): Using a 240-volt charging station, a full charge took approximately 7 hours.
- Level 1 (120V): Charging with a standard household outlet could take up to 20 hours.
- DC Fast Charging: An optional SAE combo DC fast-charge port was available, which could charge the battery to 80% capacity in about 20 minutes at compatible public stations.
- Infotainment: The vehicle included Chevrolet’s MyLink system with a 7-inch color touchscreen, Bluetooth, and smartphone app integration, including Siri Eyes Free.
- Instrumentation: An EV-specific digital instrument cluster displayed battery charge and remaining range.
- Seating: Standard features included heated front seats.
- Cargo Space: The battery placement limited cargo capacity to 9.6 cubic feet behind the rear seats.
- Hood Latch Recall: A recall was issued for 2013–2015 Spark EVs because the secondary hood latch could corrode and prevent the hood from properly closing. This was an expansion of an earlier 2014 recall.
- Airbag Software Recall: Some 2014 Spark EVs were part of a larger GM recall to update the airbag sensing and diagnostic software, which could prevent the airbags and seatbelt pretensioners from deploying in a crash.
- Battery Concerns: Some owners experienced issues with the battery management system, and there were reported supply chain issues for replacement packs in the years following production.
