- Engine: All XT4 models were powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
- Horsepower: 237 hp.
- Torque: 258 lb-ft, available from 1500 to 4000 rpm, providing spry acceleration around town.
- Drivetrain: Front-wheel drive was standard, with all-wheel drive available as an option.
- By-wire brakes: The XT4 was one of the first Cadillacs to feature electrohydraulic by-wire brakes, but some reviewers found the pedal feel unnatural and difficult to modulate.
- Luxury (Base): Features included an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rotary controller, LED exterior lighting, and rear park assist.
- Premium Luxury: Added standard leather seating, a power liftgate, ambient interior lighting, and more safety features like blind-spot monitoring.
- Sport: Included a gloss-black grille, body-colored door handles, and a sport steering wheel. The Active Sport Suspension with adaptive dampers was an exclusive option on this trim.
- Infotainment: Cadillac’s CUE system with an 8-inch touchscreen was standard and featured a physical rotary controller and buttons, which many reviewers preferred to the all-touch approach of earlier models.
- Space: The XT4 offered decent rear-seat legroom for its class and a usable cargo area of 48.9 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.
- Interior quality: While an improvement over previous models, the interior received criticism from some reviewers for using materials that did not feel as premium as those found in rivals.
- Transmission issues: Some owners reported transmission failures, including shuddering and jerky shifting. A technical service bulletin (TSB) was issued to address coolant leaking into the transmission fluid via a defective heat exchanger.
- Electrical problems: Some drivers experienced electrical failures, including a completely dead battery or issues with the infotainment system.
- Start/stop accumulator recall: A recall was issued in 2020 for the start/stop accumulator endcap, which could have missing bolts and cause a transmission fluid leak.
- Rearview camera recall: A recall was issued in 2022 for the optional Surround Vision system, which could intermittently lose the rearview camera image.
- Seat belt recall: Some 2019–2021 XT4s were recalled for improperly secured rear seat belt retractors.
