Windows/Mac/Tablet/Phone Friendly
- Standard rearview camera: A rear vision camera became standard on both the base LS and higher-end LT trims.
- Standard Bluetooth: The base LS trim received standard Bluetooth phone connectivity. In previous years, it was an option on the LS and standard on the LT.
- Engine: All 2018 City Express models were powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 131 horsepower and 139 lb-ft of torque.
- Transmission: A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is standard.
- Drivetrain: The City Express is a front-wheel-drive vehicle.
- Cargo capacity: The van offers 122.7 cubic feet of cargo space and a payload capacity of 1,500 pounds. The cargo area is wide enough to accommodate a standard 40×48-inch pallet.
- Fuel economy: It was rated by the EPA at 24 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined.
- Maneuverability: The compact size and tight 36.7-foot turning diameter made it ideal for city driving and navigating tight spaces.
- LS: The base trim included standard features like 15-inch steel wheels, dual sliding side doors, and power front windows.
- LT: The LT trim added more convenience features, such as keyless entry, cruise control, heated power mirrors, and rear parking sensors.
- Interior utility: The cabin was designed for function, with hard, easy-to-clean plastics. It included a standard fold-flat front passenger seat that could double as a workstation. An optional Technology Package was available on the LT trim, adding a 5.8-inch touchscreen with navigation.
- Reason for discontinuation: The City Express was discontinued due to low sales. In its best sales year (2015), it sold just over 10,000 units, falling far short of competitors like the Ford Transit Connect and its mechanical twin, the Nissan NV200.
- No direct replacement: GM announced no direct replacement for the compact cargo van, although its full-size Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana remained on the market. Buyers looking for a compact city work van today would need to consider other options.
