- Water pump failure: The internal water pump on the 3.5L V6 engines can fail, which can contaminate the engine oil and lead to extensive engine damage.
- Axle shaft bracket recall: The support bracket for the front drive axle halfshaft may fail in models with 2.0L engines and FWD. This could lead to a loss of power while driving or the vehicle rolling away while in Park.
- Rear suspension recall: Some models with the SHO Performance Pack were recalled for rear suspension toe links that could fracture.
- Limited visibility: The car’s thick roof pillars and high beltline limit outward visibility, particularly when reversing. A rearview camera is standard on Limited and SHO trims and optional on the SEL.
- MyFord Touch system: The older infotainment system on SEL and Limited trims received complaints for being slow, unresponsive, and difficult to use.
