- Torque: 350 lb-ft.

- Drivetrain: AWD is standard.
- Fuel economy: EPA-estimated 17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway.
- SE: The base model includes 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, integrated blind-spot mirrors, and a 6-way power driver’s seat.
- SEL: Adds 18-inch wheels, heated side mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, paddle shifters, and an available optional Sync infotainment system.
- Limited: Includes standard Sync, perforated leather upholstery, 10-way power front seats with driver’s memory settings, a cargo net, and optional heated and cooled front seats.
- SHO: The performance-oriented model adds the twin-turbo V6, sport-tuned suspension, xenon headlights, keyless ignition, and unique interior trim. An optional Performance Package included upgraded brake pads and summer tires.
- Electric Power Steering (EPS) Failure: A recall was issued in 2015 for certain 2011–2012 models equipped with EPS. The system could suddenly shut down, making the vehicle more difficult to steer, especially at low speeds.
- Fuel Tank Recall: Some 2012 Taurus models were recalled for a potentially weak seal on the fuel tank.
- Water Pump Failure: Models with the 3.5L engine are susceptible to a water pump failure, which can contaminate the engine oil and lead to extensive engine damage.
- Gasket Leaks: Some 2012 models may experience engine oil pan gasket leaks, which can cause a burning smell from the engine.
- Visibility Issues: Drivers have noted that the car’s thick roof pillars and high beltline create limited outward visibility. This can make parking and reversing difficult without a rearview camera.
- Confining Interior: Despite its large exterior dimensions, some reviewers and owners found the interior, particularly the rear seats, to feel a bit confining due to the design.
